REMEMBERING JAN GAMMON: It is with heavy hearts that we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Bobby Gammon and the entire Gammon family on the passing of Mrs. Janice (Jan) Gammon, who has gone home to be with the Lord.
Patriots think generationally—and Jan Gammon understood this before it was evident in election results or party strength. Long before the Robertson County Republican Party became the leading party in our county, Jan helped lay its foundation through faithful, persistent work. She committed herself to the steady tasks of organizing, mentoring, and encouraging others to get involved. Her resolve was unwavering, and her convictions ran deep, rooted in a desire to pass on something better to her children and grandchildren.
Because of her dedication to the cause, many of the results we celebrate were made possible—including the recent election of our new U.S. Congressman, Matt Van Epps. In that race, Robertson County contributed thousands of additional conservative votes, helping counterbalance Davidson County. That impact did not happen overnight; it was the result of groundwork laid decades earlier.
This past August, the Robertson County Republican Party had the privilege of recognizing Jan at our Reagan Day Dinner. Pastor Arlin Smith, First Vice Chair; Mary Ann Parks, State Executive Committeewoman (District 23); and I had the joy of thanking her for a lifetime of faithful service and leadership.
As we enter the 2026 election season and begin pulling petitions for county and local offices, Jan’s example still calls us forward. She didn’t simply encourage others to serve—she stepped forward herself, running for office, mentoring future leaders, and faithfully volunteering in campaigns. Jan believed leadership begins locally and is sustained when people are willing to play their part—whether by running, supporting a candidate, lending time and skills, or encouraging others to vote. Carrying on her legacy means continuing the work she helped start, with shared responsibility, steady conviction, and service even when the work is difficult.
Scripture reminds us, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we shall reap, if we do not lose heart.” (Galatians 6:9) Jan never gave up and saw a great harvest—and she would want us to keep going.
A Reflection on Jan Gammon:
"Mrs. Jan Gammon was a County Commissioner with integrity and character. She was not one to go along to get along. She spoke up for what she believed." —Former Commissioner Raymond Francis
We trust she has now heard the words from our Lord, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” Please continue to keep the Gammon family in your prayers.
I look forward to seeing you all on February7 as we gear up for the primary election. Questions? Ideas? Email me directly at: [email protected].
Best wishes for a blessed 2026,
